SOPHIE LE ROUX
45 Years of Music Photography
About
A concert photographer for 45 years, Sophie Le Roux became a member of the prestigious Jazz Academy in 2023.
A wonderful recognition for her meticulous and sensitive work.

Biography
Her story began in 1984, following a wonderful encounter with photographer Robert Doisneau, who encouraged her to work on her musician portraits while developing a different point of view.
Sophie photographs musicians on French and international stages, during rehearsals and recording sessions. She meets producers, journalists, club directors, and festival organizers, and spends many years traveling tirelessly to all the places that nourish her passion for photography and music.
Exciting projects emerged throughout her career: record sleeve designs, DVD editions, two stamps commissioned by La Poste featuring Michel Petrucciani and Claude Nougaro, press correspondent for Le Monde and other major magazines, a limited-edition heliogravure portfolio, and the publication of books from her collection Le Jazz au bout des doigts, which has taken her to festivals and institutions in France and abroad to share her passion for jazz and blues.
As an independent photographer, Sophie Le Roux holds a prominent place in the world of performance photography.
The list of artists featured in her archives is dazzling.
Among the giants of jazz and beyond, let us mention, for example:
John Abercrombie, Al Jarreau, Diana Krall, Geri Allen, Bernard Allison, Marcel Azzola, Ray Barretto, B.B. King, George Benson, Terence Blanchard, Michael Brecker, Dee Dee Bridgewater, James Brown, Gary Burton, Bill Carrothers, Ornette Coleman, Chick Corea, Gil Evans, Stéphane Grappelli, Nile Rodgers, Johnny Griffin, Jim Hall, Herbie Hancock, Joe Henderson, Milt Jackson, Elvin Jones, Lee Konitz, Little Richard, Wynton Marsalis, John McLaughlin, Jackie McLean, Brad Mehldau, Helen Merrill, Pat Metheny, Milton Nascimento, Claude Nougaro, Michel Petrucciani, Didier Lockwood, Chris Potter, Tito Puente, Dewey and Joshua Redman, Sonny Rollins, John Scofield, Martial Solal, McCoy Tyner, Tony Williams, Phil Woods…
